Police nod for 2,520 Ganesha idols in city
City police have granted permission to set up 2,520 Ganesha idols this Vinayagar Chathurthi and would deploy over 10,000 personnel to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival.

After the celebrations, the idols would be taken on a procession on routes specified by the police between September 13 and 17.
Srinivasapuram in Foreshore Estate, Palkalai Nagar in Neelankarai, Kasimedu fishing harbour, Tiruvottiyur and Ramakrishna Nagar in Ennore are the beaches where the idols will be immersed. Around 10,000 personnel would be deployed, supervised by assistant commissioners, 12 Deputy Commissioners, 6 joint commissioners and 3 additional commissioners.
