Couple hires gang to kill 62-year-old father
The city police are on the lookout for a woman and her husband, who hired a mercenary gang to kill her 62-year-old father, a retired merchant navy man. The couple decided to finish him off after he developed a relationship with the servant maid in Washermenpet.
The gang hired by the couple attacked the old man in front of his house located on 6th Street, Market Baram at New Washermenpet on Thursday night and he was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.
Police identified the victims as Deivasigamani, a widower, who allegedly had an affair with his domestic maid.
According to the police, Deivasigamani, a retired captain of a merchant navy, lost his wife a few years ago. His daughter, Latha (41) and her husband Babu (45), were living in the same house with Deivasigamani.
Meanwhile, Deivasigamani developed a relationship with one Chitra (45), who had been working in his house, from childhood.
Though he had married off Chitra, after the death of her husband five years ago, she was staying with Deivasigamani and family. Recently, the two Latha and Babu discovered that Deivasigamani was having an affair with her.
“As both were against it, they hired a gang to eliminate Deivasigamani,” police said. Latha believed that Chitra was planning to chase her out of the house. On Thursday night, the victim was sitting outside his house when a gang in two-wheelers arrived there and attacked him with knives.
Hearing the elderly man’s cry for help, neighbours rushed to his rescue. Meanwhile, the men fled the spot after seeing people approaching. Deivasigamani was admitted to the Stanley Medical College Hospital,” said a police officer investigating the case. He also noted Latha and Babu escaped from the house and they have launched a hunt to nab the couple. Further investigation is on.
