Classical music, dance can be very engaging: Shobana
With an aim to introduce classical dance and music to people from various strata of society, legendary danseuse actor Shobana along with music prodigy Abhishek Raghuram is organising a dance-music production called Bhav.
Chennai
To be held at the Music Academy on August 22, the event will also see Anantha Krishnan, Prithvi Chandrasekhar and Kalarpana’s (Shobana’s dance academy) talented dancers. “The coming together of interdependent artistic processes will speak for its shared goal — making music for dance and dance for music. We hope to give audiences a different aesthetic experience by being a part of the sacred space. Art forms have become an intrinsic part of India’s cultural identity and it should be celebrated by people from all strata of society. You cannot compartmentalise art,” says Shobana.
She adds, “There is this notion that the highest form of entertainment is films or TV. But I beg to differ — if presented aesthetically, classical music and dance could be very entertaining and engaging. I cannot reveal much about the dance production because it takes away the surprise element. But I can assure the audience that anybody who has attention for art would be able to enjoy Bhav.”
