Chennai
The accused was identified as R Sathish of Perumal Koil Garden Street in Arumbakkam. He was picked after a police patrol spotted a load autorickshaw driver arguing with him on PH Road in Arumbakkam.
On inquiry, it was found that despite the auto driver V Samu (22) of NSK Nagar, producing his driving licence and other documents, Sathish had threatened Samu with ‘police action’ and demanded money. He had also ‘confiscated’ Samu’s mobile phone resulting in an argument, when the police on patrol intervened.
However, when the team sought Satish for his identity card, he fumbled and started arguing with the police following which he was secured, and his two-wheeler seized.Â
During interrogation, it was found out that he used to ride his two-wheeler with a police sticker on it around Arumbakkam and extort money from motorists. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
