Rapist lured women on promise of silk saree, gold

Police took him into custody for further investigation as he has claimed to have raped many women with the same modus operandi. He also has a case of raping a minor in 2014 pending against him. 

The accused, Suresh of Kannagi Nagar, was nabbed after a victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Neelankarai police station and provided the car registration number. During the interrogation, he said that he meet women when they were alone at home and tell them his guru is conducting puja for the welfare of couples. 

“He then invite them to participate in the puja and lure them by saying that the guru would give them a silk saree and one-gram gold coin,” said police. 

Believing him, women went with him. Later, he rapes them at knifepoint inside a car after parking the vehicle in secluded places. Since no women came forward to lodge a complaint, he became more confident, said police.
