Pawsome Pets: Cafes open door to pets and their parents
There are a million ways in which a pet can show its love and affection for you and now Chennaiites are presented with the perfect opportunity to tell their furry friends that their parents adore them too!
Chennai
Many cafes and restaurants have sprung up across the city where ‘humans’ can take their pets along with them for a fun day out, while getting a bite to eat. Many of these centres also organise doggie birthday parties, serve food specially made for pets and conduct socialising events.
HARLEY AND ME, ECRÂ
This was initially started as a hotel, or boarding centre, for dogs but over time, weekend socialising events for pets were organised. Equipped with a swimming pool and obstacle course, it also doubles up as an activity centre, where behaviour training or hydro-therapy for overweight dogs, or those with defects, is provided. On one side of this gorgeous property are a few lawn tables and chairs, ideal for a Sunday evening when pet parents can kick back with some comfort food that the cafe serves and a book, while the pet enjoys fresh air and lots of space to run around.
THE BARK, ALWARPET:Â
While such venues are a refreshing change for pet parents in the city, what if an individual who wants to dine at these cafes isn’t too fond of animals? This restaurant started by three youngsters has paid attention to this detail, by ensuring the pet-friendly area is tucked away behind the main dining space. A passage decorated with paintings of dogs leads to a lawn with a few tables by the side, and if you happened to be there at the right time, you can see the four in-house dogs rolling on the grass, play-fighting with each other here. They don’t have a pet-specific menu as yet, but will be launching one soon — we can assure you that their ‘human food’ options are delectable and worth a try!
TWISTY TAILS, NUNGAMBAKKAMÂ
Right from the time of its launch, this cosy pet-friendly cafe has been garnering a lot of attention. The interiors are colourful and will instantly cheer up pet and owner, who can be rest assured of having a great time. A ball pit for animals that forms part of the cafe is certainly a haven for puppies and adult dogs alike, and often, pictures of an excited pooch jumping through this vibrant play area can be seen on their social media page. A major plus-point of Twisty Tails is that they serve select dishes that are specially made for pets, sans salt, spice or any other harmful ingredients, so if you’re deciding to celebrate your dog’s birthday party in style, this quirky cafe is the ideal option!
