Money-for-marks: Anna University sacks Registrar Ganesan
Close on the heels of the controversy over the marks-for-cash scam, the Anna University on Friday sacked its registrar Dr S Ganesan following complaint from the teachers association, which sought the removal of registrar over allegation that he was responsible for the misappropriations at the varsity.

A spokesperson from Anna University told DT Next that Vice Chancellor M K Surappa has appointed Dr J Kumar as the new registrar of the university. Kumar is currently working the director of Planning and Development in Anna University.
Earlier, in a letter addressed to Governor and Chancellor of the university, Banwarilal Purohit, and Vice Chancellor Surappa, the association blamed the registrar for the malpractice.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption that unearthed the scam named GV Uma, the former controller of examinations, as the prime accused in the scam that involved awarded marks during revaluation for a consideration. Along with her, a few other faculties and seven examiners have been booked in the case.
