The internal committee constituted to probe into the issue of ‘marks-for-money’ scam at Anna University is expected to submit its report by next week.

Soon after the scam was unearthed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), University Vice-Chancellor MK Surappa had appointed the committee comprising senior professors.
Surappa also suspended former controller of examinations GV Uma, the prime accused, along with dean of University College of Engineering, Villupuram district, P Vijayakumar, the second accused in the case, from their respective posts. Meanwhile, the university’s teachers association has blamed S Ganesan, the former registrar, for the whole scam and sought action against him.
Sources said the probe committee has collected several documents pertaining to the scam. “The committee is in the process of completing the investigation. It is likely to submit its report by next week to the Vice-Chancellor,” said a university staff, on condition of anonymity.
