History-sheeter beheaded over affair, search on for body and killers
A 37-year-old history-sheeter was beheaded by unidentified persons and the head was thrown in front of his alleged lover’s house near Guduvanchery.
Chennai
Police identified him as Kamalakannan of Kadapperi near Tambaram, who had two attempt to murder cases and a few assault cases pending against him in Peerkankaranai, Selaiyur and Tambaram police station limits. When he was not in prison, he used to drive an autorickshaw in the locality.
On Saturday night, Kamalakannan left his house around 11 pm after informing his wife he is going to pick up an important customer. However, he did not return and Sudha found that his auto was abandoned on a flyover in Chromepet. She immediately lodged a complaint with the police.
Meanwhile, Guduvanchery police received information in the wee hours of Sunday that a man’s head is lying on Rajiv Gandhi Street in Urapakkam. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the head. Since the corpse could not be found in the nearby areas, the head was kept at Chengalpattu Government Hospital.
After confirming with Sudha that it was Kamalakannan’s head, Guduvanchery police investigated the case and said that his head was found near the house of one Amudha, with whom he had an affair.
“Another history-sheeter Mahendran was in relationship with Amudha. When differences erupted between them, Kamalakannan became close to Amudha,” said police.
Police suspect that Mahendran could have murdered Kamalakannan and dumped the head near Amudha’s house as an act of revenge. He also had previous enmity with a few others in the locality and police are investigating in all angles. Kamalakannan and Sudha have a five-yearold son and a three-year-old daughter.
