Newly-wed couple commits suicide in Minjur

M Jai Venkatesh (24) of Minjur, an interior designer, fell in love with M Dhanalakshmi (22) of Vaniyambadi in Vellore district, when he was working at her house a year ago. They got married four months ago despite opposition from the girl’s family and were living in a rented house near Minjur. 

Police said that the couple had bought a cake on Monday night to celebrate Venkatesh’s birthday. But Dhanalakshmi suddenly consumed poison kept in the house after a fight. 

Shocked over this, Venkatesh hanged self from the ceiling fan in the hall. On Tuesday morning, since the couple did not step out, neighbours broke open the door and found the bodies. On information, the Minjur police retrieved the bodies and sent them for autopsy.
