4 snatching cases filed, cops suspect same gang
An assistant professor and a private bank employee were among four persons who lost their mobile phones to snatchers in and around Kodambakkam on Friday. Police suspect the same gang to have been behind all the four incidents.

Three men on a bike snatched a mobile phone from Abinaya (29) of Rangarajapuram while she was trying to book a cab outside the house. The same gang, within minutes, snatched another mobile phone from a pedestrian at United India Colony. The victim, Sanjay of Chromepet and an employee of a publishing house, was talking to a friend on the phone, when the incident occurred.
The third incident also took place in United India colony. The gang snatched the mobile phone of Mrudhula (24), a resident of Rangarajan Main road and an assistant professor at a private arts college in Kovur, while she was walking home after work. The Kodambakkam police have registered separate cases.
Meanwhile, police suspect the same gang went to Vadapalani and snatched mobile phone from Nivetha (24), a private bank staff, on Duraisamy Road. The Vadapalani police have registered a case.
While there was lull in snatching incidents after the crackdown on those involved in such crimes, it has witnessed a spike in the past week.
