Cop, FoP member chase, nab robbers
The policeman and a member of Friends of Police, who chased two robbers all the way from Aminjikarai to Ashok Nagar and secured one of them in the wee hours of Thursday, came in for special appreciation from city police chief AK Viswanathan on Friday.

The second suspect was nabbed by Ashok Nagar police soon afterwards. On Thursday, a duo on two-wheeler waylaid Balaji, a pedestrian, and tried to escape.Â
Constable Vinoth and FoP member Balamurugan noticed this and approached them. On seeing the police, the duo tried to escape on their two-wheeler, which led to a hot pursuit, with Vinoth and Balamurugan chasing them on their bike. When they cornered the duo at Ashok Nagar, the latter threatened them with a knife. However, Vinoth snatched the knife and secured Sathish. Based on an alert from Balamurugan, Ashok Nagar police managed to nab the second suspect, Muniyan, within hours.
