No Filter: Leon is just one musical away from superstardom

The release of Kanne Kanne, an independent song by Leon James, which has had over three million views in just two days, has brought the music composer from the studio to our screens. He can sing, compose music, and I have a feeling many girls have been going weak in the knees listening to his compositions. 

Leon sounds so excited about getting to experiment with this independent song because he isn’t bound by a script and he can take any direction he wants. 

“I’m a sucker for a great melody (the boy is a romantic at heart) and in this song, I have introduced some drops and there will also be trap influences. It’s a modern local boy’s love and feelings song,” says Leon and I have to agree. 

Jonita Gandhi sings and stars in this video. As a popular music composer, Leon is just one blockbuster musical away from superstardom. He has several releases lined up this year, three in fact. 

“I’m very excited about making my Telugu debut in which I’m composing music for a film starring Tamannaah. I don’t speak the language, but emotions are a universal language and that’s the inspiration behind my music. I may not speak a language but I can sing every song from the film. 

Another movie I’m looking forward to is LKG starring RJ Balaji,” he says. He is in talks for other projects and I know there are more independent songs and videos in the offing. So if any of you have any requests, do tweet him as he reads his fans’ messages. 

“Working on this song was refreshing — usually for a movie, I work on the music and by the time it reaches the audience, it has been over a year so there is delayed gratification, that is if the movie does well because that impacts how the music is received. This song from start to release took only two months — so the excitement of composing the song is still fresh and it is wonderful to receive such positive feedback. 

Also with films, it’s a collective effort whereas here it’s all Leon,” he says. Having toured the world as an accomplished musician himself with other artists and composers, it is high time Leon got his own concert tour. 

With a name like Leon you know he has an inner rockstar waiting to be unleashed. He is a friend, ladies, so I can vouch for the fact that this boy is a total darling!
