Bharathiraja’s son caught driving drunk in Nungambakkam, cops seize car
Manoj Bharathi, son of noted movie maker Bharathiraja, who played the male lead in a film titled Taj Mahal years ago, was booked for drunken driving on Friday afternoon on Sterling Road in Nungambakkam.

The actor was behind the wheel of a BMW when he was stopped at the Sterling Road signal around 3.30 pm. He was found to be inebriated when police checked him. His car was seized and he was allowed to go home. According to the police, he was returning home on Harrington Road from his office in T Nagar. Police said that the fine for drunken driving is Rs 2,500 under the Motor Vehicle Act. The amount should be paid in court. Fine for drunken driving cannot be paid online or by credit or debit cards.
Some months ago, actor Jai was caught for drunk driving for the second time in three years by the Chennai police. Jai was at the wheel when his Audi rammed the sidewall of the Adyar flyover on LB Road. The Adyar traffic investigation wing also booked him on charges of not carrying his driving licence, vehicle insurance and the RC book. It was on April 4, 2014 that Jai was first booked for drunk driving after his car rammed the sidewall of the bridge near Kasi Theatre.
