NIRDPR’s post-graduate programme for TN students

The course will provide the students with core development and management insights along with analytical skills for planning and managing rural development programmes.

NIRDPR Associate Professor, Centre for PG studies Dr Akanksha Shukla said the central and state governments in recent times have reiterated their intent to target rural development as a key priority area through the recent budget allocations for rural infrastructure development. Accordingly, selection of the students for the course will be done based on their CAT/ XAT/MAT/ATMA scores. 

Scholarships are also being provided to select candidates, including the economically backward students with the applications being accepted until July 3, 2018. The PGDRDM course aims to create a committed and competent cadre of rural development professionals in the country by incorporating components of classroom training and interactive learning,  fieldwork and rural organisational internships. 

The course also accords the students the opportunity to interact with entrepreneurs through the Rural Technology Park (RTP). The PG programme stands out from others in the industry as it brings in students from varied cultural and professional backgrounds under one roof. 

At the end of the programme, the students are equipped with expertise in planning and management of rural development programmes with focus on participatory development, competence in improving development delivery systems, sensitivity to issues of equity and gender, appreciation of the rights and entitlements of socially disadvantaged groups, the right attitude and values necessary for rural development professionals as well as leadership qualities.
