Police on Monday arrested 11 persons, including two women, in connection with the murder of a Corporation employee in Kasimedu. They said the murder was executed following instructions from a gangster who is now lodged in prison for ganja peddling.

The accused have been identified as Pradhan alias Kicha, Saran Kumar, Diwakar, Velu, Raghavan, Desamuthu, Venkatesh, Mohan, Logesh, Vanitha and Vasuki of Thalankuppam near Ennore. Another accused Kuppan is yet to be traced.
Police said they were the henchmen of notorious ganja peddler ‘Dhadi’ Senthil – the two women are said to be his wives. Based on preliminary investigation, police said Dhadi Senthil and Sivakumar were relatives, who had a fall out over sharing the money Sivakumar collected from people on the promise of getting them houses in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board projects. He refused to give Senthil his share, which led to enmity between them.
Sivakumar also complained to the police about Senthil’s ganja business that led to the latter’s arrest. Angered over this, Senthil instructed his aides to murder Sivakumar.
All 11 persons were remanded in judicial custody, and Police have decided to take Senthil into custody for interrogation.
Sivakumar, a fitter in the Royapuram zone of Chennai Corporation and is said to be party worker of TTV Dinakaran’s AMMK, was chased by a gang and hacked to death in the open on Sunday morning in Kasimedu.
