Top official inspects Smart City works
To expedite the works taken up by the Chennai Smart City Limited, the secretary of Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) department inspected several smart city projects in T Nagar on Friday.
Chennai
Principal secretary Harmander Singh inspected the multi-level car parking (MLCP) project in T Nagar and the ongoing work to develop the city’s first pedestrian plaza at the same location.
The MLCP is designed to accommodate 252 four-wheelers and 560 two-wheelers, and will also incorporate features such as automated lifts and infrared sensors to enable efficient parking. The pedestrian plaza, coming up on Sir Thyagaraya Road between Panagal Park and Anna Salai, will create an open, automobile-free social space in the city’s busiest shopping stretch.
Singh also inspected the redesigning works of major roads such as Raman Street and the ongoing initiative to retrofit parks with ‘smart’ amenities, scrutinising the work at Jeeva Park. A senior Corporation official said, “The inspection of the work quality passed the test as the secretary approved it and also stressed upon the early completion of the Smart City projects.”
