    Five held for murdering history-sheeter

    Hours after a history-sheeter was hacked to death outside his home, the City Police arrested five persons, including a youth, his father and mother, and two friends, for the murder. The murder was reported on Thursday night, and the suspects were nabbed within 12 hours of the incident.

    R Aravind, a 24-year-old history-sheeter, was murdered right in front of his house around 9.30 pm on Thursday. He was arrested for attacking J Akash and was let out on bail in March, and police suspect this to be a retaliatory murder.

    Following this, police have arrested Akash (23), his father M Jeeva (51) and mother J Manjula (41), and his friends, M Prashanth (24) and K Vicky (24), all residents of Korattur. The arrested were produced before a magistrate court in the city, which remanded them in judicial custody.

    According to police, the quarrel between the two began as a verbal duel on February 7. As the squabble worsened, Aravind and his brothers, Kuduyarasu and Anbanraj, assaulted Akash. Based on Akash’s complaint, Korattur police arrested Arvind and his two brothers. Aravind was lodged in jail before being released on bail.

    In order to avenge the attack, the five accused persons allegedly conspired to eliminate Aravind. On Thursday night, as he was about to enter his house located on Gangaiaankoil Street, Aravind was surrounded by the gang hacked him. By the time Aravind’s family members came out hearing his cries, the attackers fled the spot, leaving him in a pool of blood. Korattur police recovered the body and sent it to the for post-mortem examination.
