Madras University to launch campus development programme
University of Madras has decided to transform an array of activities by automation of administration with the help of e-governance. The public finance management system is also set to be introduced for all the externally funded programmes in academics and infrastructural development.

All three modes of teaching - direct, class room lectures, distance education mode and online courses will be offered.
The students can now seamlessly shift from one mode to another. Choice based credit system will be introduced in distance education. The university has brought in necessary regulations to introduce flexibility in core courses, credit transfer facility to promote student’s mobility among institutions in the country as well as in foreign countries and lateral entry from regular courses to distance education and vice-versa. University sources said that the National Council for Teacher Education has approved introduction the of two-year B Ed course through distance education from this academic year.
Online courses offered through SWAYAM and National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) were already approved by Academic Council of the University and will be offered from the academic year 2018-19. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized the Human Resource Development Centre of the university as a national resource centre to produce and upload online courses in “political science and international studies” and the programme will be initiated this year.
