8 held for attacking public with weapons
Police have arrested eight men, including a juvenile, for attacking the public with machetes and damaging the vehicles in the locality on Sunday night. All of them were either drunk or under the influence of drugs.

The accused have been identified as T Sundar (22), R Navin (19), S Gopi (20) and P Dilli Ganesh (20) of Perumbakkam, R Arun (20) of Kotturpuram, S Balaji (22) and R Suresh (19) of Semmanchery.
Police said that there was previous enmity leading to small clashes between two groups of youngsters in Semmanchery and Perumbakkam. On Sunday night, a group of youngsters from Perumbakkam entered Tsunami Nagar and started attacking the residents and passers-by. They also entered houses and damaged the vehicles.
The gang also entered a ceremony venue and attacked the guests in which two persons were injuries and were rushed to the hospital. CCTV footage showed the youngsters running around with weapons and ransacking the vehicles, electric posts and transformers with machetes.
On information, Semmanchery police rushed to the spot and secured eight of them and hunt is on to nab others. After preliminary inquiry, police said that Perumbakkam youth were attacked by a gang from Tsunami Nagar a few weeks ago, and this attack was in retaliation. Residents said that they were living in fear as such incidents are taking place frequently.
