Honest hotel staff finds Rs 25 lakh, hands over to cops

Acknowledging his honesty, the local police officers gifted him a wrist watch, even as they are looking for the duo who left behind such a big amount but are yet to claim it.

Police said it was Ravi, an employee of Saravana Bhavan in Anna Nagar, who noticed a carry bag on the chair when he was clearing the table after the customers left on Thursday night. 

The bag, which sported a ‘duty-free’ advertisement, contained Rs 25 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination. Ravi immediately informed his manager Balu about it. As the customer who occupied the table had already left the hotel, the management decided to hand it over to the police on Friday morning. 

The CCTV footage showed two persons having food and later leaving the table without the carry bag containing cash, police said.
