School reunion to help upgrade infrastructure
A reunion group formed by the alumni of the 1970 batch of the St Thomas High School has reached out to its alma mater with help for upgrading infrastructure. The group comprising students from section A of the 1964-70 batch that had about 42 students was formed recently and met up for a reunion at Hotel Quality Inn.

“We have been told that the classes required furniture like long benches. We have been informed that the school is in need of 10 benches. The group is looking at helping the school with infrastructure, apart from charitable activities like helping the poor with educational opportunities, etc,” said D Krishnamurthy, who played a huge role in getting together the group.
While the alumni group has members from far and wide, including countries like Australia, Saudi Arabia and several other metros in India, thanks to social media, they have been able to come together, said Krishnamurthy.
The group is also aiming at helping other classmates, who might need help. “The group had studied together at the co-educational school from classes 6 to 11. We are roping in more and members as we find them. We have reached the halfway mark,” he said.
The recent meeting saw the group walk down the memory lane with a discussion among themselves.
Krishnamurthy said, “Our school has changed a lot since the earlier times. It has been divided into two and the government has stepped in as well. We will be happy to help in whatever ways possible. We are still in the process of finalising the agenda.”
