2-member gang breaks car windshield, steals Rs 6 lakh
Unidentified persons broke a car windshield and stole Rs 6 lakh kept inside on Wednesday in Saligramam.

G Shanmugasundaram (47) of 48th Street in Ashok Nagar, a businessman, was on his way to book a new car with the sum when the incident happened. On the way to the showroom, Shanmugasundaram stopped his car at an ironing shop on K K Road in Saligramam. When he returned to the car, he was shocked to find the windshield broken and the cash stolen.
Apart from the cash, the bag also had an expensive wrist watch and an iPhone. Based on his complaint, the Virugambakkam police registered a case and collected CCTV footage from the locality.
A footage showed two men on bike reach the car and one of them breaking the windshield. Within seconds, the duo stole the bag and escape from the pot. Police are trying to ascertain their identity.
Police thwart burglary bid, duo held
Police prevented a burglary bid at a mobile showroom in Kodungaiyur in the wee hours of Wednesday night and arrested two men. The shop belongs to Premkumar, who locked the showroom around 10 pm and went home. Around 2 am, police on patrol found the shutter of the shop half open. Suspecting that something was amiss, they closed the shutters and alerting their superior.
When more police personnel reached the spot and raised the shutters, the burglars threatened them with a knife.
However, police managed to overpower and them. After the inquiry, police identified them as Abhimanyu of VOC Nagar and Madhan Kumar of Pulianthope. They were remanded in judicial custody.
