Aid to students for socially relevant projects: TNCST
Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) will encourage students, pursuing BE, B Tech, B Arch and post-graduation, to take up socially relevant projects which will be fully funded by the body.

Over 300 student projects are expected to be taken up this year. The council also planned to extend young scientist programmes and young scientist fellowship schemes.
A senior official from TNSCST said that the council has already allocated about Rs 20 lakh for the projects, which can be availed by the students during the academic period.
He said under the scheme, final year BE, B Tech, B Arch students and post-graduate students of science, medicine, agriculture, veterinary science and engineering will be provided with maximum of Rs 10,000 as grant for each project. “Priority will be given to projects that are socially relevant and useful”,he added.
“The received project proposals from the students will be thoroughly scrutinized and would be selected according to its merits”, the official said. He also added that the TNSCST will also help the students
during the project with expert guidance.
In addition to the scheme, TNSCST will also provide funds to educational and research institutions within the state of Tamil Nadu to organise seminars, workshops and conferences.
Accordingly, the TNSCST has planned to support about 50 seminars and workshops and has allocated Rs 10 lakh for it.
Likewise, TNSCST will also provide assistant scientists and researchers in sectors such as Agricultural Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science, Engineering and Technology, Medical Science, Physical Science, Social Science and Veterinary Science to carry out the research activities. Similarly, financial support is provided to institutions to popularise science and technology among the public.
