Yechury raps Modi government over economic disaster
CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury has accused the Centre of being the reason behind the price rise in the country.
Chennai
Addressing reporters here on Friday, he said, “Even as price of crude oil in International market has declined the price of petrol and diesel in India has hit the roof. Worse still, the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) had a detrimental effect, as it is one of the factors for increasing price of goods and commodities and eliminating business activities.”
On Karnataka politics, Yechury pointed out that a proper floor test should be conducted.
“Going by the present scenario, all the BJP ruled states in the country have thrown democracy to the wind and government institutions like the CBI, CAG, Election Commission and other enforcement agencies are remote-controlled by the BJP at the Centre,” he said.
It is high time for those opposed to the BJP to join hands to thwart BJP’s design of propagating hate politics and protect the country and its people, the former Rajya Sabha MP said.
Hitting further at the Centre, the CPM leader said that crimes like rape and murder has been increasing.
“However, the accused are given shelters to escape the law with the help of BJP-ruled states.
Moreover, the country has been witnessing protests everywhere and it is a clear indication that country’s unity has widely compromised,” he charged.
On Walmart-Flipkart merger, he noted that the merger will directly hit retail markets in the country and the CPM had always been opposing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
To a question, he said the party will not be hasty on pre-poll alliance for upcoming Parliament election and they can decide about alliance even after elections like in the past.
