The deceased was identified as T Satheesh Kumar, a Grade I constable attached to Vishnu Kanchi police station and was working as the driver of Kancheepuram DSP Mukilan.
While railway police confirmed that he was run over by a train, Kancheepuram police officers said that it could be a case of suicide and added that family issues are suspected to be the reason behind the extreme step. He was married to Priya (28) nearly one and a half years ago and she is eight months pregnant now.
His car, a Maruti Ertiga (TN 21 BD 8526), purchased last year was found parked few metres away from his body, police added.
Railway police received information about the incident around 9 am and the mutilated body was shifted to a nearby Government Hospital by 10 am. His identity card found in the wallet near the body helped the police to identify the deceased.
Police sources said that he attended work on Saturday as usual and the DSP was waiting for him on Sunday morning to go to duty. Later, the DSP and SP were informed about the development after which both visited the spot, where the body was found. SP Santosh Hadimani later told reporters that it looked like a case of suicide and ruled out work pressure and stress as reasons for the suicide.
