Expect reply soon: Purohit to film industry
Days after staging a day-long fast to mount pressure on the Centre on the Cauvery row, the Tamil film fraternity on Wednesday petitioned Governor Banwarilal Purohit urging him to take steps to ensure that the CMB and the CWRC were set up as directed by the Supreme Court.

After receiving a memorandum submitted by a delegation from the film industry, the Governor promised that the state would get a favourable reply on the issue in a couple of days.
Talking to media representatives outside the Raj Bhavan after the meeting, Nadigar Sangam president Nasser reiterated that the Cauvery water issue has been a vexatious one for several decades.
The central government should not show haste and it should not take a decision against the welfare of Tamils, he added. “Hence we submitted a memorandum that comprised 5,000 signatures of members of the film fraternity today,” he said.
He said the Governor promised that Tamil Nadu would get a favourable reply over constituting the (CMB) Cauvery Management Board in a couple of days. President of the Tamil Film Producers Council Vishal, Directors’ Association president Vikraman, FEFSI chief R K Selvamani were also present at the meeting.
Top actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan had attended a silent fast a couple of weeks ago, organised by the film industry, demanding that the Centre set up the CMB and the Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC). The entire film industry took part in the day-long fast.
