He revealed this while addressing the Labour Day public meeting in Ambattur organised by the party’s labour wing. He said both the lakes would be desilted. “Bird sanctuaries and boat jetties would be formed for recreation in these lakes,” he said, trotting out a list of infrastructure development undertaken by his government. He noted that steps would be taken to set up community centres in five locations and Amma Purified Drinking Water Centres would be set up in as many as seven wards (wards -79, 81, 83, 84, 85, 86 and 87).
“Land titles which are to be issued under slum clearance project would be expedited,” he added. On setting up of LED lights, the CM observed that the tenders had already been invited for the project while the project to lay asphalt and cement roads covering the entire length and breadth of Ambattur constituency had already been completed.
“The construction of storm water drains at a cost of Rs 300 crore and tender for Amma Marriage Hall at a cost of Rs 10 crore has been called for and tender will be called for Korattur Railway subway,” Palaniswami said. The CM urged the people to retrospect the Cauvery dispute and blamed it on the Opposition. “It is during the DMK regime, we lost our rights over Cauvery,” he said. “DMK can never hoodwink the people of Tamil Nadu and come back to power. AIADMK would ride back to power in the coming election as well,” he added.
Referring to the protests, the CM said he respects the protests and urged the protesters to ensure that there was no breakdown of law & order.
