Government forms team to crack down on summer classes
The School Education Department has issued a warning to private schools across the state against conducting special classes during this summer vacation, violating the government order.

The warning comes after several complaints that the private schools were holding special classes for students from classes 9 and 11, who are to take the public examinations next year. The department also said that a separate team has been formed across the state to check whether students were forced to attend classes, especially during the peak summer month of May.
“We have received several complaints that many private schools are conducting special classes. We have given standing instructions to all the schools that students should be forced to attend classes,” a senior official from the School Education Department said.
In a circular to chief education officers, district educational officers and other authorities, the Education Department has directed the authorities concerned should ensure that classes were not conducted during summer holidays, especially in May. The team formed by the government would also hold periodical checks across the state to check if there are any violations.
The official also added that the department has also formed a team in all districts to inspect safety and security violations in all the schools, including nursery, play schools and schools affiliated to CBSE/ICSE.
He explained that a committee, consisting of seven members panel headed by a chief educational officer in each district, would initiate action against educational institutions if they were found violating security norms.
“While initiating action against the schools, adequate arrangements will be made to accommodate students in nearby schools,” the official said, assuring that such punitive action against institutions would not affect the students.
“In case of any resistance by any school authorities during inspection at private schools, the seven-member committee will be provided with adequate police protection on request,” he said, adding the exercise would go a long way in ensuring safety of students in schools and regulation the educational institutions.
