On Sunday, brothers M Paarivalavan and M Jayaseelan visited their relative’s house at Enathur village. Around 10 pm, they were walking towards an ATM in the locality. While they attempted to cross the road, a speeding autorickshaw came close, almost hitting them. However, the alert brothers quickly moved to safety.

Irked by this, they shouted at the driver for driving rashly. The auto driver stopped the vehicle, got down with two of his friends and started attacking the brothers. When they fell unconscious, the trio fled the spot. Later, onlookers alerted Kancheepuram Taluk police and the ambulance service. Paramedical staff in the ambulance declared Paarivalavan dead on the spot. Police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the auto driver and his friends. They are trying to trace the registration number of the auto to identify the culprits.

Police said that Paarivalavan, a native of Nagapattinam, was working in Chennai. The body was sent for postmortem examination to Kancheepuram Government Hospital. His brother Jayaseelan (30), who was injured, has also been admitted to hospital for treatment, said sources in the police department.
