Lift mishap kills 8-year-old girl from Nepal
In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl from Nepal died after her head got crushed when she was playing in a temporary lift at Chintadripet.

The incident took place around 9 am on Monday at the office of Lakshmi Cottage Industry office on Swamy Naicken street. The victim, Pooja Devi, had come from Nepal with her parents Ram Singh and Kalavathi to meet Ram Singh’s elder brother Bhagat Singh who is working in the firm.
While Ram Singh and Kalavathi were inside the office talking to Bhagat Singh, Pooja Devi was playing in an open lift meant for carrying raw materials. Police said she was sitting on one side of the lift with her legs hanging. When she operated the lift in the posture, the lift reached second floor and hit the sunshade.Â
Pooja Devi was stuck in the middle, and her head was crushed. Her body was sent to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for an autopsy and was handed over to her parents on Tuesday.Â
Police arrested the firm’s owner Sudarshan on charges of negligence for the operating lift without any safety precautions, but released him on his own bail.Â
