    Two houses burgled in suburbs

    Unidentified men burgled 33 sovereigns of jewels from two houses in south-western suburbs of city on Monday.

    While 21 sovereigns were burgled from a house in Urapakkam and another 12 sovereigns from a house in Tambaram. 

    Rajendran (59), a resident of Urapakkam, working in a private firm, on Friday left to his native with the family to attend a marriage. When he returned on Monday evening, he was shocked to see the front door of the house broken open and valuables missing. Later, Rajendran filed a complaint at Guduvanchery police station in which he mentioned that 21 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 8,000 kept in the locker was missing.

    In another similar incident, the house of M Dhanasekaran (48), a realtor and resident of Irumbuliyur near Tambaram, was burgled on Monday afternoon. “His wife went for shopping while 12.30 pm Dhanasekaran went to give lunch for his children, who are studying in a school nearby, and returned after an hour,” police said. Burglars es-caped with 12 sovereigns of gold, half a kilo silver and Rs 10,000. Dhanasekaran has filed a complaint at Tambaram police station.
