Vandalur Zoo offers virtual tour guides via app

“To facilitate more comfort to the visitors, the zoo authority has developed a mobile application called Vandalur Zoo for android mobile phones users. The app comes with multiple facilities like booking tickets online and it also has a map which will act as a virtual tour guide for the visitors inside the zoo,” said an official.

The visitors can easily move around the zoo with the help of this feature, as it helps the visitors with directions and also shows them the distance they have to cover to reach a particular animal enclosure, added the official. 

“Interestingly, animals are listed out as mammals, reptiles and birds. Through the app, visitors can get voice-based explanations about the various animals present in the zoo,” the official said. He added that the visitors can also use the app to get a four dimensional view of the animals. 

“The map is built comprehensively to show directions right from parking to animal enclosures, rest rooms and even eateries outside,” said the official. 

The application is available in both Tamil and English. Though it is available only for Android mobile phones in Google Play store now, it will be made available for Apple phones soon, the official said. To download this mobile application, visitors will have to search for Vandalur zoo in Google Play store.
