Gangster ‘Bomb’ Saravanan nabbed

According to sources, his expertise in bomb-making earned him the moniker. He was known to be a man operating from behind the scenes. Police said that Saravanan was heading a mercenary gang that was involved in extortion and other crimes. He was also linked to at least 28 cases, including extortion and murder. 

Saravanan was absconding and Pulianthope police team arrested him on Monday from his hideout in Uthukottai. Police also suspect that he was secretly visiting his associates in Pulianthope to plan a revenge murder. 

His brother Thennarasu, also a history-sheeter was murdered in the year 2015 by a rival gang. He was also involved in at least five murder cases, including that of Kathiravan, an associate of notorious gangster Appu. Police said that at least eight bomb attack cases are pending against him. It may be noted that he was detained under Goondas Act six times.
