Hammock turns noose for schoolboy
A 10-year-old boy was killed as a hammock made of saree turned noose and strangled him to death in T Nagar on Saturday. M Jagan was a Class 3 student of a private school.

His mother Shakthi, housewife, had gone out to buy things for home on Saturday evening. When she returned, Jagan was found hanging from the hammock and unconscious. She immediately removed her son and rushed him to the nearby Hospital. However, to her shock, doctors declared him brought dead. Later, his body was sent to Omandurar GH for an autopsy.
Teynampet police who registered a case about the incident and conducted investigation said that Shakthi had set up the hammock for Jagan and her daughter Yashika (6).
“It was beyond Jagan’s reach. While trying to reach the hammock, he got his head stuck in it. The noose tightened in his attempt to get out of it and he was strangled to death,” said the investigation officer.
