1,000 students showcase innovative talent at RIT’s project competition
The Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology’s (RIT) national-level project competition and exhibition ‘POWERIT ‘18’, held on the campus on Tuesday, saw the participation of over 1,000 students from colleges and universities from across the country. All participants had been grouped into 350 teams

Zoho Corporation was the technology partner for the event and hundreds of school students also visited the venue.
The main objective of the event was to encourage young minds to come up with ideas on how to tackle industry and social-related problems in innovative ways and showcase the same to the various trade people and researchers.
The teams displayed several society oriented projects like battery operated e-bike, mobile microscope for the detection of pathogenic cells using image processing, robotic arm with seven degrees of freedom and others.
The main areas of the competition included, Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, Big Data, Machine Vision, composites, nano science, power systems, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Vehicle Design, Mathematical Modelling, energy systems and development, hybrid vehicle, pollution control, green technology, smart technology, healthcare, bio fuels and bio energy.
Projects were evaluated by experts from the leading industries and renowned academicians based on innovation, design, compactness, efficiency and practical relevance.
Kang Sang Goo, Plant Director, Iljin Automotive Pvt.Ltd and VV Rajan, General Manager-Production, Schwing Settter (India) Private Limited were special guests during inauguration.
M Gajendran, Assistant General Manager, Central Quality -TQM, Ashok Leyland and Rajendran Dandapani, Business Solutions Evangelist, Zoho Corporation, Chennai took part in the valedictory function as special guests. Dr Thangam Meganathan, Chairperson, Rajalakshmi Institutions presided over the function.
