It was a police patrol team that rescued a two-day old boy near Irumbuliyur bypass, while the second infant was found abandoned in front a temple in Cheyyur village on East Coast Road.Â
Around 7.30 am on Monday, while a highway patrol police team was near the Irumbuliyur bypass, police heard a child’s cries that came from a bag abandoned on the side of the road. When they checked the bag, a newborn boy baby, wrapped in a shawl, was found inside, said sources. Immediately, the police team alerted the 108-ambulance service, and the baby was taken to Chromepet Government Hospital, where first aid was provided.Â
Doctors said the baby boy was just two-days old, adding that he was in a healthy condition. As they advised the baby to keep the baby inside the incubator for some days, he was shifted to the Egmore Children’s Hospital, added sources. Tambaram police have registered a case and trying to find who abandoned the child.Â
Meanwhile, villagers found another baby boy abandoned at the Gangai Amman Temple in Cheyyur on Monday. After they informed the Cheyyur police, a police team rescued the baby and admitted him to a nearby private hospital. After the checking the child, doctors said he could be 20-days-old. He was also shifted to Egmore Children’s Hospital for better care. Cheyyur police have also registered a case.Â
Police suspect that both children could have born out of wedlock, due to which the parents decided to abandon them. Further investigations are on.
