HC relief to actors in illegal building construction case

The charge was that the guest houses had been constructed illegally in areas governed by the coastal regulation zone rules in Uthandi, Sholinganallur, Injambakkam and Neelankarai along ECR. 

Justice M Sathyanarayanan granted the interim relief and directed the petitioners to file additional affidavits as to the extent of construction done by them. The affidavit should also state whether the constructions were authorised, unauthorised or deviant. 

The Greater Chennai Corporation had recently issued notices to the actors and over 140 others for the alleged illegal constructions. Subsequently, the HC ordered disconnection of power to the buildings. The actors moved HC seeking restoration of power connections.
