Over 30 vehicles seized by police gutted
As many as 32 vehicles, which were seized for various violations by Guduvancherry police, were gutted on Friday afternoon.

In the past two years, Guduvancherry police had seized more than 50 vehicles, that were used for theft, illegal arrack business and also those without proper documents. Sources said that all these vehicles were dumped in the backyard of the police station near the police quarters.Â
On Friday afternoon, the people in the quarters noticed that the vehicles had caught fire. Immediately, they informed the Fire and Rescue Service Department and personnel from Maraimalai Nagar rushed to the spot with fire tenders and doused the fire, after battling for an hour. Many two-wheelers, autorickshaws and two minivans were destroyed in the fire. Guduvancherry police have registered a case and investigating the reason for fire.Â
