‘Revenge’ robbery cracked in hours
A man who masterminded a robbery to take revenge on his former employer, for whom he had gone to jail, was arrested along with four others. The gang had orchestrated the crime on 100 Feet Road near BSNL office in Jafferkhanpet near Ashok Nagar, robbing Rs 10.5 lakh from a driver on Wednesday night.

Police said the plot was hatched by Suresh Kumar, a former employee of Ayyasamy, as he had to languish in jail after going to prison on the latter’s behalf when police seized banned tobacco products from the godown. Suresh Kumar was angry that Ayyasamy did not take efforts to get him out on bail.
Late on Wednesday night, Ayyasamy and his staff Ramesh and Batcha were returning in their Tata Ace with Rs 10.5 lakh in cash when four men on two bikes intercepted and robbed them at knife point. The gang also inflicted minor injuries, they informed the police.
One of them managed to recall the registration number of a bike, using which police tracked the owner – Shajahan – in Guduvancherry. Once Shajahan was caught, the police managed to track his accomplices – Selvam, Karthik and Mohan, all from Guduvancherry. During interrogation, they confessed it was Suresh Kumar who had planned the robbery. Police then picked up Suresh Kumar. Rs 9 lakh was recovered from the men.
Police said Suresh Kumar met Shajahan and Selvam when he was in prison, and decided to execute the revenge robbery with their help.
