Paper leak: Students demand CBI enquiry
Students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) stream staged a protest on Wednesday, demanding CBI inquiry into the question paper leak in the Class 10 and 12 examinations.
Chennai
Hundreds of students gathered in front of the CBSE regional office in Anna Nagar and took out a rally condemning the leak. The students, led by the Campus Front of India, called upon the authorities to ensure that the culprits were brought to book. The students said the authorities should cancel the economics re-exam for Class 12 students.
“Why should lakhs of Class 12 students suffer when the mistake is committed by a few,” they questioned. The protesting students shouted slogans against the Centre and demanded a ban on the students’ wing of the Centre-ruling BJP, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Meanwhile, the CBSE said it had come to the notice of the board that certain miscreants active on social media were trying to mislead students, parents and teachers by circulating a fake letter attributed to the Controller of Examinations, CBSE.
“All students, parents and teachers are therefore advised to ignore this fake letter. It may be noted by all that the CBSE communicates only through the official website,” the CBSE said. Soon after the reports of the question paper leak, the board had announced that the Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics examinations would be re-conducted. However, later, the CBSE cancelled the re-exam for Class 10.
