OPS inspects Kilambakkam bus terminus
Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday inspected the inter-city bus terminus in Madhavaram and the proposed site for the new bus terminus at Kilambakkam.

Addressing the media, he said “the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared in two months, following which construction works will begin.Â
Expressing the confidence that the Kilambakkam facility would be operational in two years, Panneerselvam made enquiries with the officials about the progress of the work and ongoing feasibility study. The construction works would be completed in the next two years, he added.Â
Meanwhile, CMDA officials in a statement said that the terminus would be set up on 88.52 acres at a cost of Rs 321 crore. The Kilambakkam terminus would be able to accommodate 1.5 lakh passengers and 250 buses at a time. Facilities like police outpost, sewage treatment plant and electric sub-station would also form part of the facility, the statement said. A separate bus stand would come up on five acres for the Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses to give connectivity to the city and its neighbouring areas.
