Police said that Martin is the cousin of gangster V Babloo alias Prabhu (32), who was murdered in Andhra Pradesh in June last year in which Harikrishnan is the main accused. Martin wanted to take revenge for Babloo’s murder and hacked Harikrishnan along with his men. But Harikrishnan escaped with injuries and is under treatment at Stanley Medical College Hospital. The incident was captured by CCTV cameras in the locality and footage showed four men chasing Harikrishnan with machetes and hacking him multiple times at Samiyar Thottam.Â
Police also arrested six men in connection with the murder of history-sheeter Muttai Gopi in Kodungaiyur. While main accused Jebastin, Karthik, Siva and Mani surrendered to police within hours after the murder, police secured two more persons – Krishnamoorthy and Srinivasan, based on their inputs. Muttai Gopi, who wanted to lead a reformed life, was hacked to death in front of his wife Anbukkarasi by a six-member gang. Sources said that Jebastin and Gopi had previous enmity over the suicide of Jebastin’s friend.Â
