Petrol pump employee arrested for card skimming
The Neelankarai police on Friday arrested an employee of a petrol pump in Kottivakkam and his associate for allegedly cloning credit and debit card data of customers using a skimmer machine when they handed over the card for payment.

Police said that Jayraman (29) worked in an IOC pump. After swiping in the machine, he used to swipe it in the skimmer as well as to capture the data. Jayaraman also secretly noted down the PIN numbers when the customers entered it on the swiping machine, police said.Â
He later used the data to clone cards. These cards were then used along with PIN to withdraw or make digital payments, police noted. The pump manager noticed Jayaraman’s unusual behaviour and verified it on CCTV visuals, before lodging a complaint with the police.
