Suspicious boyfriend slashes woman’s neck
Furious over his girlfriend ignoring repeated warnings against speaking to other men, a 23-year-old man slashed her neck, at Zamin Pallavaram on Tuesday. The woman is undergoing treatment at a government hospital and is said to be out of danger, while he was arrested on charges of murder attempt.

Police said Sathyaprakash and M Indhumathi alias Indhu (30), contract staff working in different sections at the city airport, were reportedly involved in a relationship for the last two years. Indhu, a divorcee, is staying at a women’s hostel in Zamin Pallavaram, while Sathyaprakash hails from the same locality.
Sathyaprakash told police that he wanted to kill her and commit suicide, after she continued to interact with other men at work and also over the phone. On Tuesday evening, he took her out for a walk and went to a park nearby. Sathyaprakash brought up the matter again, leading to an argument. Suddenly, he took out a knife and slashed Indhu on her neck, and escaped from the spot when she shouted for help.
People in the park rushed to her rescue and alerted the police. She was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital and then shifted to RGGGH for further treatment. She is said to be out of danger. Later, Pallavaram police located Sathyaprakash and arrested him. He was booked for attempted murder, kidnap, criminal intimidation and using obscene language.
Youth held for stalking woman in Tirumullaivoyal
In yet another incident, Tirumullaivoyal police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly stalking a woman on social media, apart from following her and forcing her to marry him. The accused R Paulraj of Tirumullaivoyal is an auto driver, while the victim is a BCom student of a private college. Based on her complaint, police arrested Paulraj and remanded him.
