2 women arrested for robbing self-help group head
Two women who robbed a gold chain, cell phone and cash from the head of a women self-help group near Periyapalayam were arrested on Saturday.

The police are on the lookout for an auto-rickshaw driver who was part of the gang.Â
According to police, Rajeshwari, a resident of MBC road in Tiruvallur, was heading to Vengal village to train SHG members on Saturday. She got into a share auto which had two women on board. She realised something was amiss when the auto went in wrong direction.Â
When she raised an alarm, the women threw chilli powder on her face and robbed her four-sovereign chain, mobile phone and Rs 1,500. The gang pushed Rajeshwari out of the auto and fled the spot.Â
Based on her complaint, Periyapalayam police nabbed Nandini from Indira Gandhi Nagar in Aminjikarai and Pramila from MV Nagar in Avadi.
