TTE Kiran Kumar was on duty on the train that left from Chennai Central. When the train neared Arakkonam junction around 10 pm, he entered into an altercation with unauthorised season pass holders travelling in reserved coaches, and ordered them to detrain.

Kiran also insisted that they pay Rs 420 each for travelling on a reserved sleeper coach without valid ticket.

However, the season pass holders who had bought unreserved second-class ticket to Arakkonam from Tambaram refused to get down, and allegedly abused Kiran.

If railway sources are to be believed, the unauthorised travelers allegedly called their friends from other coaches, and together began assaulting the TTE just as the train started from Arakkonam junction Kiran Kumar and another TTE managed to detain one of the attackers, and handed him over to Government Railway Police in Katpadi station. The officers filed an FIR following a complaint that Kiran Kumar lodged.

Minors held for pelting stones at train

Eight minor boys were detained on Saturday night after they pelted stones at Rock Fort express near Pallavaram. RPF said the boys, travelling to Villupuram in a reserved compartment with only regular tickets, created nuisance for other passengers. When the TTE asked them to get down, they argued with him. The boys argued even with the RPF personnel, stating that they would get down only at Villupuram.  Suddenly, one of them pulled the chain, stopping the train at Pallavaram station. By then, a police team from the Pallavaram railway station, too, reached.  “The boys pelted stones at AC coach, damaging at least three glass windows,” police said.
