    3.26 lakh aspirants appear for exam, eye 6,140 police vacancies across TN

    As many as 3.26 lakh candidates took the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) written examination, which was held to select 6,140 constables across the state on Sunday. The examination was conducted under strict vigil and Chennai city Police Commissioner also inspected some centres.

    A total of 23,956 aspirants wrote exams in 21 centres in the city, of which 2,255 were women, sources noted. The test was conducted in total 232 centres across the state. The written test had questions for 80 marks, out of which 50 were from general knowledge category and the candidates were allowed to attempt for 1 hour and 20 minutes. 

    Though the minimum qualification required for the post is only Class 10, officials noted that the examination was attended by many graduates as well. The written test results are expected to be out on July 7, following  which physical tests will take place. 

    During the last year’s exam to select over 13,000 constables, 1,015 jail  wardens and 1,512 firemen, for which SSLC was the basic education qualification, the recruitment board found that 450 aspirants were post graduates, 4,000 were graduates and over 1,000 candidates were diploma holders.
