The weatherman also hinted that normal daytime conditions are likely to prevail over most parts of the state and there is no possibility of an immediate increase in temperature.
According to the Met department, Thursday and Friday saw the IMD observatory at Meenambakkam record the lowest temperature during March in nearly three decades, with the temperature dipping to 18.6 degrees Celsius. Further, over the last few days, most places in north Tamil Nadu recorded much lower than normal minimum temperatures.
“The cool mornings of the past few days over Chennai and its suburbs are going to be a thing of past with the early morning temperatures at both the observatories in Chennai showing an appreciable increase to 22 degrees Celsius on Friday morning from 18.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday,” said a weather expert at RMC.
A gradual increase in night temperatures is expected over most parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai, he added.
