A 23-year-old CRPF recruit shot himself to death in the Central Armed Police Force’s camp in Avadi early on Thursday.
S Kailesh Chandra Rai was from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and was about to complete training next month, said CRPF sources. On Thursday morning he was deputed to guard an armoury near ATC ground within the CRPF camp.
Around 6.40 am, others in the camp heard a gunshot. They rushed to the armoury to find Kailesh lying in a pool of blood with a bullet in his head.
He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared brought dead. His body has been kept at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
No suicide note was found on Kailash and the authorities are trying to find out the reason for the suicide. “A complaint has been registered with local police and they are also investigating,” said a CRPF officer.
